The operator of the Legacy had pulled off the highway and was awaiting assistance (from police) on the side of the road when Ambrose impacted the Legacy and continued down over an embankment before coming to rest."

His cause of death was blunt force trauma and the manner was accidental, Gay explained.

No autopsy will be conducted, but a routine toxicology will be performed, according to Gay.

The man's next-of-kin has been notified of his passing, Gay said.

The other driver survived but it is unknown if they were injured.
